At New Mexico Jiu-Jitsu Academy, we also offer training in Wing Chun. Whether you’re interested in only this discipline or want to learn it to complement your Jiu-Jitsu training, our experienced instructor Justin Hall can help you to learn Kung Fu, specifically Wing Chun Kung Fu.
What is Wing Chun?
Wing Chun is a type of Kung Fu developed in China. It focuses on striking, especially with the hand and fist, and it became very well-known in the 1950s and 60s due to the teachings of Grandmaster Yip Man, who taught such famous pupils as Bruce Lee and William Cheung.
We teach Wing Chun through a combination of forms, sensitivity drills and sparring. One of the strengths of our program is we teach practical applications of Wing Chun techniques against the common strategies of modern day attackers. After all, an attacker won’t use Kung Fu against you; you’ll need to adapt your techniques to real-world situations in order to use Wing Chun for self-defense. We will teach you those skills.
